AN AVIAN FPP BLOCK OF THE MONTH BY
Julia Wachs & Jennifer Walters

Quilt mockup Calling all birdwatchers!

The Birdwatchers Project is a BOM collaboration between Julia @juliawachs.designs and Jennifer @manderleymakes. This project is a 14-block foundation paper-piecing pattern, delivered as a block of the month program. A new block pattern will be available on the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Inspired by the board game, Wingspan (created by Stonemaier Games, designed by Elizabeth Hargrave, art by Natalia Rojas & Ana Maria Martinez Jaramillo), this quilt brings the game's beauty to your sewing room.

Hi, I'm Julia!

Julia is a quilter who loves to design using foundation paper piecing and applique. She started designing her own quilt patterns in earnest during the height of the pandemic as a creative escape, which opened a new world of owning a creative business alongside working full time at an aerospace company. She now is a full time quilter.

Jennifer

Hi, I'm Jennifer!

Jennifer is a Louisville-based modern quilter. She's been quilting for nearly 15 years and started designing her own patterns in 2020 to share with the quilty world via Manderley Makes. Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is recommended?

This program is perfect for intermediate quilters or ambitious beginners who've done basic paper-piecing. You should be comfortable with stitching precise seams and reading foundation templates.

Can I access past patterns if I fall behind?

Yes! All blocks (plus any bonus materials) will remain in your member account - so you can catch up any time!

How much does it cost?

The BOM program is $75 for 14 FPP patterns plus finishing instructions, delivered over 12 months. Fabric is not included in this price.

When and how will I receive the patterns?

On the 2nd Thursday of each month, a new block pattern will become available (or two patterns, in August and March). You will receive an email with a link to your member account where you can download your PDF pattern.

Are there any kits available?

Yes! We've worked with some of our favorite quilt shops to ensure kits will be available to you. Kits are being provided by North Star Quilt Shop and Sewtopia.
